Google Apps - Google Drawings Episode One: An Overview

Episode One: Introduction
Hello and welcome to How to Use Google Things presentation of, Google Apps - Google Drawings Episode One: An Overview

In this overview episode, you will learn how to create a Google Drawings file, review the layout of the application and explore the menu bar. Over the upcoming episodes we will explore these in detail, while we create a logo for an organization, Metropark Explorer.

Logos are a method of branding. A logo tells a little about who and what we are. Here’s what our finished product will look like. In this case, I have designed a logo for a company that writes reviews, offers guide information and blogs about community nature spots and parks. The market for this company includes both nature lovers, casual park goers and exercise enthusiast.

The logo includes motion, a leaf or flower motif, energizing colors and a reflective aside, this yellow dot.

Get started by going to your drive. First log into to your Google Account, then navigate to drive.google.com. Begin by creating a new drawing file, select New -> More -> Google Drawings.

This is the drawing canvas, it has a checkerboard background indicating it is transparent. Here is the menu bar and grouped menu items.

Start with File, then, Edit, View, Insert, Format, Arrange, Tools, Table and Help.

We will be using these to create our logo over the upcoming episodes. Before drawing anything, save your file, we’ll call it Metropark Explorer - Logo.

Now it’s time to start drawing and we will begin that in the next episode. Congratulation on completing this episode and best wishes as you learn more about Google Apps and Google Drawing.
